Jilin University President Zhang Xi Meets with Hanyang University President Lee Ki-jeong and Delegation

On September 16, Zhang Xi, President of Jilin University, met with Lee Ki-jeong, President of Hanyang University, South Korea, and his delegation during their visit to Jilin University.

President Zhang Xi warmly welcomed President Lee Ki-jeong and the delegation and expressed his appreciation for their visit at the important occasion of Jilin University’s 80th anniversary.

During the meeting, Zhang Xi reviewed the achievements resulting from the longstanding exchanges and cooperation between Jilin University and Hanyang University.

He noted that as Jilin University continues its efforts to develop into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, it is important not only to pursue its own path of development but also to learn from the advanced educational practices and experiences of leading universities around the world.

Zhang highlighted Hanyang University’s extensive experience in the internationalization of higher education, noting that many of its practices could provide valuable insights for Jilin University.

He expressed the hope that the two universities would further develop platforms for cooperation, create additional opportunities for academic exchange, and continue promoting practical interaction between their faculty members and students. Through closer collaboration, the two institutions can support each other in pursuing high-quality development.

Hanyang University Congratulates Jilin University on Its 80th Anniversary

President Lee Ki-jeong extended his sincere congratulations to Jilin University on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.

He emphasized the close relationship between Hanyang University and Jilin University, describing the two institutions as having a deep and longstanding friendship. Previous exchange activities jointly organized by the two universities have produced positive results and helped strengthen their partnership.

President Lee also referred to President Zhang Xi’s presentation during the ceremony celebrating Jilin University’s 80th anniversary, in which Zhang reviewed JLU’s development journey and outlined the university’s vision for the future.

Lee said that he found Jilin University’s experience and future development plans both inspiring and highly relevant to Hanyang University.

With Hanyang University approaching its centenary in 2029, he noted that the two universities share several similarities in their development planning and future objectives.

He expressed his expectation that both institutions would continue exploring new opportunities for collaboration, deepen practical cooperation across different academic and educational fields, and further strengthen the long-term friendship between Hanyang University and Jilin University.

Strengthening International Academic Cooperation

The meeting was also attended by Kim Hyun-joo, Director of the International Admissions Division at Hanyang University, staff member Nam Kim-hong, and representatives from Jilin University’s international cooperation and exchange department.

The meeting reflected the longstanding relationship between the two universities and their shared commitment to strengthening international academic exchanges, expanding cooperation opportunities, and encouraging greater interaction between students and faculty.
